The South Asian Bar Association of New York and Muslim Bar Association of New York present:

Anti-Muslim Policy and its Effects

A FREE CLE Panel Discussion

Wednesday June 29th at 6:30pm

Furman Hall, Room 214
New York University School of Law - 245 Sullivan Street, New York, NY

As America witnesses a rise in Islamophobia, anti-Muslim sentiment has moved beyond mere rhetoric and has played a direct role in shaping law and policy.  Focusing on issues such as post-9/11 immigration policy, anti-Sharia law measures throughout the country, the Park 51 controversy, and the Peter King hearings, our panelists will examine the nature and impact of laws and policies that have directly and indirectly singled out Muslim Americans.

Panelists:
Sameer Ahmed, Esq., Skadden Fellow at the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund
Umair Khan, Esq., Counsel to New York State Senator Kevin Parker
Udi Ofer, Esq., Advocacy Director at the New York Civil Liberties Union

Moderated by Asim Rehman, Esq., Vice President of the Muslim Bar Association of New York (MuBANY)

Two free CLE credits will be available to attendees. RSVP is required.

June 24th 7pm - 10pm
Summer Mixer at Weil, Gotshal & Manges

With the summer associates descending on the New York City area, the Muslim Bar Association of New York (www.muslimbarny.org) and the New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Association (www.njmla.com) teamed up with the National Muslim Law Students Association (NMLSA) to host a networking event on Thursday, June 24th from 7pm-10pm.

The mixer provided a great opportunity for summer associates and incoming law students to talk with practicing attorneys across many sectors, including corporate, public interest, and government.
